So EQ is opening up another progression server -- this shit is pretty fun. Anyone else interested in doing this with me?!

It's the game that started it all baby!

https://www.everquest.com/home

Progression servers are fun as fuck. The first 4-5 expansions were the best times of EQ (The Glory Years), so they make these progression servers where they don't release expansions until the tier has been defeated, an allotted time has passed, and then every person on the server votes on whether they are ready to bring in the newest expansion or not yet. I think it would be fun as hell leveling up together, making a guild or joining a raiding guild, and raiding high end content/unlocking next expansions/progressing!

It would be like a new WoW server with only Onyxia and MC as content. When rag and onyxia are killed, then they would release BWL 3 months later. then after nef is killed, they would release AQ 3-6 months later etc. Then naxx. and when Kt is killed, in 3-8 months (depending on member votes) they would release BC: rinse repeat

Yeah but wasn't EQ a grindy mess? I played DAOC which was kind of an intermediate step in between EQ and WOW, so I did enjoy the party based xping and whatnot, but the pve game play in earlier titles was pretty bad compared to what we have now with wow now with all the procs and skills effecting one another.

Eq is old... why dont we look for a WOW progression server instead... i missed out on vanilla raids.

Edit:Question, wont the graphics be really dated?

Edit2:Then again ill try anything once. if its F2P

It's definitely a grind quest, but there is so much to do and so many places to go, everything you do is an adventure. It's something that every gamer should experience at some point in their lives, so many fun memories. Especially classic. It could be extemely fun if enough people participate

Yeah I ran in 8mans, usually as a light eldritch. Played a nightshade when I felt like going solo.

Seven a.m., waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein' everything, the time is goin'
Tickin' on and on, everybody's rushin'
Gotta get down to the bus stop
Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends (My friends)

I do kind of miss the exploration in other mmos. Wow always feels really task oriented like I'm doing xyz right now and I know to do abc to do that. In the older games you could find some random corner with a good camp of out of the way mobs and farm quietly to avoid gankers and stuff.

I played mostly on mordred so we had access to all races/classes. That was pretty damn fun.
